Juniors – U18s finish 2nd while Hat-trick in 12As

The under 18s took on Kangaroo Flat in Round 13 at Glen Loddon Homes oval and won a thrilling match by 4 wickets. Last week K/Flat made 134 batting first with Jack Bourke taking 4/13 from 10 overs while Brodie Bull claimed 3/41 and Jarrett Miles with an economical 2/9 from 8.2 overs. The Demons had to work hard to get the victory and Ben Daley led the way with the bat. He batted all 50 overs making 60no as we passed their score 6 wickets down. Bull made a handy 28 while Tallis and Jarrett Miles were the other batsman to get double figures making 12 each.
Meanwhile last Sunday the under 18s played Eaglehawk at Glen Loddon Homes oval in a catch up game. Some excellent bowling saw us bowl Eaglehawk out for 62 with all bowlers used getting a wicket. Caileb Dickins claimed 3/22, Liam Christensen with 2/8, Tallis Miles 2/10, Jack Bourke 2/11 and Jarrett Miles 1/5. In reply we made hard work of the run chase but got home in the final over 5 wickets down. Tallis Miles top scoring with 18 while Sam Maher made 14. The 2 victories has meant that the under 18s have finished 2nd on the ladder and will take on Bendigo United at Glen Loddon Homes this weekend in the semi final.
The under 16s final game was against Strathdale Maristians Blue at Beischer Oval and we went down by 90 runs. The Suns batted first and made 217 with Tyson Towers taking 2/20 and John Varker 2/22 to be the pick of the bowlers. Our batting never got going and we were all out for 127. Jordan Beecham top scored with 42 while Sam Welch made 18no. The under 16s finished the season in 6th position on 33 points.
Under 14A went down to Strathdale Maristians Blue at Spring Gully in their final round game by 68 runs. We made 9/111 with Dylan A’Vard top scoring with 20no while Liam Ladiges made 14 and Jackson Goodwin with 12. The Suns were too good making 8/179 with Nick Lowes the pick of the bowlers with 3/17 while Callum Stewart took 2/12. The loss for the Demons meant that they narrowly missed out on the top 4 by just 0.14%.
Under 14B finished the season with a good victory over Eaglehawk at Finn Street. Eaglehawk made 160 with Brayden McHeyzar-Baccin claiming 2/6, Vladimir Wallis with 2/24, Zachary Roberts with 2/26 and Matthew Taylor with 2/27. An all-round batting performance seen us make 9/243. McHeyzar-Baccin topped off a fine game with 32no while Josh Christensen also got 32no, Roberts with 27 and Letesha Bawden with 26. The under 14Bs finished in 6th position on 39 points just one game out of the top 4.
A Hat-trick from Max McMurray was the highlight of the under 12As win over Sandhurst at White Hills Primary School. Sandhurst was all out for 75 batting first with McMurray taking 4-11 including a hat-trick. Zack Knapman took 1/2 and Sam Lowes with 1/3. In reply the young demons made a massive 6/188. Eli Pearce top scored with 22no, McMurray and Lowes both got 20no, Bree Saffron made 17no, Dylan Fell with 16no and Knapman with 15no. The Under 12As finished in 4th position and will play Strathfieldsaye Blue this weekend in the semi-final with the venue to be confirmed.
